Sabbath reflection and observance can be a primary source of cultural
renewal because it serves as the antidote to our misperception and
destructiveness. Sabbath practices correct and refine our vision so we can
see once again -- as God saw at the conclusion of each day's creative work
-- how everything that is made is very good. Just as the Sabbath day is set
apart and made holy, so can the thanksgiving and praise that are nurtured
and promoted in Sabbath time and place become the basis for sanctifying the
world and naming it holy.
